About Us

The catalysis control technology was first developed by Dr. Victor Stancovski and Dr. Sridhar Seetharaman during a collaboration between 1997 and 2001.  In recognition of the potential of the technology, a development company, Catelectric Corp., was formed in 2003.

In 2004, a proof of concept was successfully executed with the cooperation of Prof. Steven Suib, Head of the Department of Chemistry, University of Connecticut.  In 2005 Catelectric was integrated in the University of Connecticut Technology Incubation Program.  Beginning in 2007, the technology was tested in application in the Chemistry Department at Uconn under a Sponsored Research Agreement

Management Team

Robert M. Furek, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, is an experienced corporate manager in large companies in the food and beverage industries. Currently, he is a partner of Resolute Partners, LLC, a private equity investment firm. He was the President and CEO of Heublein, Inc., and was responsible for sales, marketing, manufacturing, research and foreign subsidiaries. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of Dexter Corporation, and is currently on the board of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. He has a B.A and a honorary M.A. from Colby College¸ an M.B.A. from Columbia University and is a graduate of the Senior Executive program of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business Administration.

Peter D. Pappas, President and Chief Operating Officer, has planned and managed the manufacturing and commercial development of products including automotive sub-assemblies, books, electric motors, automotive sub-assemblies, nuclear radiation measurement instruments and food products.  He is a business consultant and educator, formerly Director of the Mitchell College Center for Entrepreneurship and Regional Director of the Connecticut Small Business Development Center at the University of Connecticut.  He has designed and built manufacturing plants and commercial structures in the U.S. and Mexico.  As an entrepreneur, he has been the owner/CEO of a closely held retail chain and two development businesses.  He holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from Lowell Technological Institute (now Umass, Lowell), and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University

Dr. Victor Stancovski, Original co-inventor, has done substantial research in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis and materials engineering and has managed R&D groups in the US and abroad. Dr. Stancovski received his undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, Romania and his doctorate in Chemistry from the Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology in Haifa in 1994, followed by postdoctoral work in Materials Engineering at MIT. Dr. Stancovski has worked with a few fuel cell companies in the development of advanced materials for the fuel cell and catalyst industries.

Consultant

Dr. Steven Suib, Technology Consultant, Chairman, Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut.  Dr. Suib specializes in solid state inorganic chemistry and in heterogeneous catalysis.  He has published more than 400 papers in catalysis and interface science, areas of utmost relevance for Catelectric's activity. Dr. Suib has also co-authored 40 patents and has an extensive record of contributions to industrial developments. He did his undergraduate work at the State University College, Fredonia, NY and received his Ph.D. in 1979 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where he did postdoctoral work between 1979 and 1980. Since 1980 Dr. Suib has on the faculty of the University of Connecticut, where he became a Chancellor's Research Fellow in 2000, Department Head in 2001 and was named Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor in 2001.
